Castle Rock
"What a place for a fort!" - pg. 106
Castle Rock is like a fort. The boys love it. They discovered it as they were hunting for the beast. Childishly, Jack has his tribe set up here because of his post-tribe statement about how it would make an awesome fort. Jack is childish in believing that their is a beast and in playing tribe and running around in a fort. It is symbolic because it brings out Jack's immature, irrationial and foolish behavior. It represents the boy's inability to look past childish things and to see what matters.

'There's no food here,' said Ralph, 'and no shelter. Not much fresh water.'
